Join Scottish ESEA writers and creatives Tim Tim Cheng, Chris Lau Manson, Noby Leong, and Mai-Anh Vũ Peterson on this exploration of different literary forms and genres. In conversation with Sean Wai Keung.
Light refreshments will also be available.

Support The House Arts Collective
The House Arts Collective have received a conditional grant of £5000 from Glasgow Life but in order to receive the grant they are required to raise £1470 themselves and for this sum to be match-funded by Creative Scotland.

Tim Tim Cheng is the author of The Tattoo Collector (Nine Arches Press, 2024), a PBS Recommendation. Poems are recognised by the likes of Forward Prizes. Their pamphlet, Tapping at Glass (Verve, 2023), was shortlisted for The Kavya Prize. They co-edited Magma 93: Liberation (2025) and Where Else: An International Hong Kong Poetry Anthology (Verve, 2023). They taught at secondary schools and universities, and have worked many odd jobs in London and Glasgow. They also translate literature from Hong Kong as an act of home-coming, a practice of being in-between, and a challenge to dominant narratives.
Chris Lau Manson is a mixed Scottish-Hakka Chinese illustrator, writer, and comic creator based near Glasgow. Born in Hong Kong he embraces both of his heritages through folklore and visual motifs to tell magic-realism infused stories that explore identity, rebellion, and mental health. His work also looks at the ways in which maintaining tradition can empower us, while adherence to strict traditionalism holds us back. His current comics practice is focused on using magic-realism to heighten and accentuate the underlying social commentary at the core of his stories.
Dr Noby Leong is a scientist, food writer and broadcaster. He is the host and producer of Satay? Okay!, a podcast that explores the stories behind Malaysia’s cuisines.
Noby was born in Malaysia, raised in Australia and now lives in Scotland. His work explores food through scientific, historical and cultural lenses in an attempt to answer a personal question: Who am I?
Noby has featured in a range of media outlets including Scientific American, BBC Radio Scotland, ABC Radio and Triple J. He has also hosted food science documentaries (for ABC) and featured on The Chefs’ Line (SBS and Netflix).
Mai-Anh Vu Peterson (she/her) is a British Vietnamese, Edinburgh-based writer, AI strategist, facilitator and community organiser. She is also co-founder of the organisation Britain’s East and South East Asian Network (besea.n). She writes about identity, advocacy, anti-racism and community building. She is also an experienced speaker, consultant and facilitator of active bystander training, to support victims of identity-based violence. Her recent book, Beyond Belonging, which was collectively written with two fellow organisers, examines how organisers can move past identity politics and anti-racism work that operates in isolation among different communities, towards sustainable action and solidarity.
