SBWN Professional Development Day – 30 October

We are changing the way we organise our events – help shape the event in advance so it can be all you want it to be!
Your excitement for our events shapes what we offer.

Every RSVP helps us create better sessions, bring in more of what you love, and use our resources wisely.

Event Description

Please be mindful when booking. This is a session for Black writers & writers of colour* based in Scotland.

All SBWN events will adhere to our Safer Spaces Policy. You can learn more about our policy here.

At SBWN we pride ourselves on being an access first, disabled led organisation. We prioritise our communities’ requirements to ensure as many people as possible can enjoy our programming.

We are hosting a professional development day event in-person and online to help writers develop their skills, learn more about publishing, writing careers and more.

Writers at all levels are welcome at this event and you do not have to identify as a “professional writer” to participate.

FAQ

When you fill out our interest form, you are essentially joining an early waitlist for advance notification. When we reach a certain number of completed forms, we can then confirm the event and you will be notified first when everything is official to secure your spot.

Filling out the interest form is free of charge. Once the event is confirmed and announced, tickets may then need to be purchased in order to officially register attendance. However, some bursaries are available for travel, (child)care fees, and data costs.

We aim to let folks know when the event is going forward, a venue is secured, or tickets have gone live, within a few weeks of the interest list closes. The timeline can vary depending on the scale of the event.

Yes. If you are no longer available or want to attend, email us to let us know and we’ll remove your email address from our mailing list. We will only contact you with communications about this event.
