For writers of East Asian, South Asian, Southeast Asian, West Asian, and/or mixed heritage

Our Asian Writers Group returns on 18 October for a session of live writing and sharing, led by facilitator Kelly Kanayama. There’ll be some prompts to generate new writing and a chance to share work  – either what we’ve written in the session or a previously created piece, so feel free to bring your work along!

This month’s theme is ‘Illusion’, in all its forms and meanings. We invite you to bring and create writing related to this theme, however closely/loosely, to share on the night. However, if you have work you want to share that’s unrelated to the ‘Illusion’ theme, we invite you to bring that too! These themes are meant to inspire, not restrict, so take them as a starting point rather than a rule.

If you’d like to share a piece in a non-written format (e.g. video or audio), you can either email us the link beforehand at or share it in our Zoom chat during the session. Please note that sharing is totally optional, so no pressure if you prefer to listen and respond to what other group members wish to share!
