Description
Scottish BPOC Writers Network is looking for an early-career researcher to deliver our annual EDI Survey and Report.
You will collaborate with the SBWN team to deliver the 2022 Survey and Report on the Perceptions and Experiences of Black and PoC writers in and from Scotland. You will also receive support and mentorship from Kevin Guyan, founder of EDI Scotland, who has produced our two previous surveys and reports.
The 2022 Survey and Report on the Perceptions and Experiences of Black and PoC writers in and from Scotland will analyse this year’s survey results with some comparison to previous reports:

Criteria
This role will suit an early-career researcher, or someone with an interest or emerging practice in quantitative research and diversity monitoring. Quantitative research is the process of collecting and analysing numerical data. While the report includes some qualitative research, the survey is weighted more towards quantitative research.
Black researchers and researchers of colour from any sector and BPOC people interested in developing their research practice are welcome to apply. You do not have to be a student or professional researcher – please read our previous reports before applying and share any research experience you have.
Experience using Excel and Google Forms is advantageous.
This role is open to BPOC early career researchers or BPOC who would like to gain experience in the field, based in Scotland. Work will be conducted remotely.
All freelance contractors must abide by our Constitution and Safer Spaces policy:

Editorial support will be provided by the SBWN Team.
Please note this is classed as ‘self-employed’ or ‘freelance’ work.
Access
To reduce access barriers:
- We welcome you to tell us your access requirements on the application form.
- We have some bursaries for childcare/caregiver or data costs for people on low incomes who would be unable to participate otherwise.
Apply here
Please fill out this Google Form by Wednesday 25th May with your contact details and tell us:
- How you match the criteria (in up to 300 words)
- Why you are interested in this role (in up to 300 words)
The Scottish BPOC Writers Network is committed to promoting diverse, equal and inclusive spaces. Due to underrepresentation in the literature and research sectors, we are seeking applications from BPOC (Black people and People of Colour). We particularly encourage BPOC people from underrepresented communities to apply, including people from LGBTQIA+, and/or disabled communities, women, ‘working class’ and/or non-binary people. Please be mindful that we are a BPOC-run organisation.
