Poetry Review Writing Workshop with Helena Nelson – 26 November 2022

Join us for this workshop on writing poetry reviews!

For Black writers and writers of colour in/from Scotland

Join Helena Nelson, from HappenStance Press and Sphinx Review, for a poetry review writing workshop!

This workshop is particularly geared to people who are new to poetry review writing, although people of all experience levels are encouraged to come along! Helena will introduce participants to the One Point OInterest (OPOI) method, which offer a brief response to a poetry pamphlet, focussing on one particular point of interest. You can check out some examples on https://sphinxreview.co.uk.

Each participant will get a physical copy of a poetry pamthlet to review, and you will have the opportunity to get your review published with Sphinx Review! Don’t miss out!

**You don’t have to be an expert to come to this workshop. All you need is an interest in poetry and an interest in writing. (No requirement to be a published writer of any kind.)**

About Helena

Helena Nelson runs HappenStance Press, a small poetry press based in Fife. For the last twenty years she’s also run Sphinx Review, a publication dedicated to reviewing poetry pamphlets (only short collections, not books). At first Sphinx was hard copy but then it went online, and now it’s https://sphinxreview.co.uk, the home of the OPOI reviews.
